Clinics who are registered with Vaxtracker display a QR code poster unique to their clinic. Anyone who receives a vaccination at the clinic can scan the QR code with their Smartphone and register themselves to receive the AusVaxSafety vaccine safety surveys through the Vaxtracker system. Registration is quick and easy with only a few details required.

Anyone who receives a vaccination through a NSW Health staff clinic or the NSW School Vaccination Program will automatically receive a survey. Participation is entirely voluntary. Participants will automatically receive a link to the vaccine safety survey on day 3 after their vaccination either via email, SMS or both. For vaccines of special interest there may be more than one survey.

Information

Information Collected

The vaccine safety survey asks about a number of potential reactions to a vaccine including: pain, redness, swelling or itching at the injection site, rash, fever, fatigue, chills, headache and others.

Other information collected includes:

  • Basic demographic information
  • Medical assistance
  • Symptom management
  • Impact on routine activites
  • Medical history such as history of anaphylaxis and chronic medical conditions

For vaccines of special interest, a second detailed safety survey and a brief final survey may be sent. The final survey monitors for any new serious illnesses that required medical attention in the 6 weeks following vaccination.

Data

Vaccine Safety Data

The information collected through the vaccine safety survey has identifying information removed before being sent to AusVaxSafety for analysis. The analyses conducted by AusVaxSafety are reviewed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) which forms the advice handed down by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) on the use of vaccines in Australia.

Vaxtracker provides data to AusVaxSafety for the following vaccines and the safety data can be viewed by clicking on the links below.
